Web Media: Flash Music Player Our client wanted a video player to rival that of YouTube, but with their own features. We built a multi-purpose Flash media player application that supported previews, voting, star rating, competitions and playlists that also integrated into their existing site.

UI Research: Gesture Recognition Can a standard webcam be used to create a new type of human-computer interface? We decided to build a small prototype to test out our ideas. Simple gesture recognition using Flash/AS3.

Flex Business Application: ISO Assessment Tools

Symmetri was chosen to create the data repository and process assessment tools for the new International Standards Organisation standard for Information Technology - Process Assessment ISO15504. This suite of server and client applications allows assessment teams to quickly and easily collect data about an organization's processes and automatically generate assessment ratings and reports.

The ISO15504 Process Assessment Application has been developed as a Rich Internet Application (RIA) using Adobe Flex. Now in beta-testing.

Web 3.0: search-cube Visual Search Engine

search-cube searches the World Wide Web for websites, videos and images and displays previews of each result on a unique and compact three-dimensional cube interface. Developed in Flash CS3, Actionscript 3 using Sandy 3D Engine and Tweener open source libraries, and interfaced with the Google AJAX Search API.

eCommerce Application: DYM High Volume Order Management System

We developed and installed a complete Amazon style B2C eCommerce and order management system for one of Australia's largest retailers including fulfilment, invoicing and shipping - now live and processing several million dollars of online business annually.

The business outcome has surpassed expectations - a 40% increase in order throughput over the busy Xmas period, and a 50% reduction in staffing requirements.

Developed in ASP.NET 2.0 with SQL 2005, XML interfaces to multiple third-party systems and payment gateways, automated label, invoice and report printing via PDF.

Mobile Interface Application: Search UI API

At Symmetri we helped to bring a revolutionary new mobile search interface to the market by developing the Mobile Search Web Services API. The API is a standardized web service that allows developers to access search functionality over the World Wide Web using HTTP in four ways - plain XML, XML-RPC, SOAP and JSON.

Developed using PHP and NuSOAP.

Online Gaming: Virtual Yacht Race

We developed an online yacht race simulation that runs race for 10,000+ users in real time, including realistic weather patterns and yacht tracking, live chat with other users, triggered events in real time 24/7. Created as a ASP.NET 2.0 + Flash 9/AS3 application. Now running as annual promotion for major beverage brand.

Flash Media Mashup: Online Image Gallery

We designed and developed this new media application to run as a high-profile Australia-wide campaign for a major international brand. A technically challenging project bringing together server-side ASP.NET and database functionality with animations, video, visuals and audio in the Flash front-end.
