Imagine if you could not only look at photos and images, but find out more about the objects and people within them. Glassbrush takes the concept of tagging images to a new level of sophistication by adding meaning and context to a visual scene and linking people and things together. Scheduled for alpha release in 2012.
3D building modeller.
Our latest client project brings the power of 3D building design to anyone, right within their web browser. Users will quickly and easily build and customize real building designs; and then view blueprints or export their model as an industry standard data file.
Charting suite.
Built on top of proprietary interfaces to a huge data warehouse, this charting suite developed by Symmetri makes extensive use of the Adobe Flex data visualization libraries and extends existing code to add a number of special features and interactivity to the standard charts. Now rolled out to a global user base.
HTML5 sound display.
Can the web browser be used for real-time sound engineering? To prove that it can, we were engaged by a leading professional audio products company to create a prototype that displays multi-channel sound waveforms using HTML5 and Javascript with a web sockets connection to a sound server.
Animated thinking.
When the founders of the SpeedThinking Zone wanted to bring their powerful new thinking tools online, they asked Symmetri to create Speedlinks - an animated brainstorming application that combines the best of computer games and more conventional "mind-mapping" techniques.
Search-cube.
Search-cube was designed as an experiment, not a real world tool, but it has proved to be popular with educators and artists. It provides a new spin on visual search by displaying web search results on a unique, 3D cube interface that is visually rich, aesthetic and fun to use. Try search-cube

Media player.
Our client wanted a video player to rival that of YouTube, but with their own features. We built a multi-purpose Flash media player application that supported previews, voting, star rating, competitions and playlists that also integrated into their existing site.

Gesture recognition.
The human-computer interface can evolve, even without new hardware. Here is a first prototype of gesture recognition developed using our own algorithms, implemented with webcam video in Flash and AS3. Wave your hand and watch your computer respond!

Postcard search engine.
Real physics simulations can now run in the browser. Here is a simple experiment using Papervision3D and the jiglibflash 3D physics engine. Search the web and view your results as postcards falling on a virtual tabletop. Try the postcards 3D physics demo
Mobile text interface.
Symmetri helped to bring a revolutionary new mobile search interface to the market by developing the Mobile Search Web Services API. The API is a standardized web service that allows developers to access search functionality over the World Wide Web using HTTP in four ways - plain XML, XML-RPC, SOAP and JSON.
Order management system.
One of our largest enterprise projects. We developed and installed a complete Amazon-style B2C eCommerce and order management system for one of Australia's largest retailers including fulfilment, invoicing and even printing shipping label. The application is now live and processing several million dollars of online business annually.
Assessment toolbox.
Symmetri was chosen to create the data repository and process assessment tools for the ISO to help auditing of ISO standard 15504. This suite of server and client applications allows assessment teams to quickly and easily collect data about an organization's processes and automatically generate ratings and reports.
