Browser CAD: Designing structures on the web
Although CAD tools such as AutoCAD have been widely used for many years, there are few CAD solutions that run in the browser. Symmetri is implementing a business-critical CAD and 3D rendering solution for a major client, with a special emphasis on creating a simple, usable interface for the non-specialist.
Currently in R&D phase for implementation by 2011.

Animated Thinking: Speedlinks
When the founders of the SpeedThinking Zone wanted to bring their powerful new thinking tools online, they asked Symmetri to create Speedlinks - an animated brainstorming application that combines the best of computer games and more conventional "mind-mapping" techniques.

Data Visualization: Advanced Reporting
So much data, so little time. We have been engaged by a global data agency to create a Web 3.0 reporting suite that could make sense of millions of rows of data for their clients - while impressing with a clean, usable visual interface. Despite very tight timelines, we delivered the beta version on time and on budget. Now, for the first time, they are delivering customized reports to users within the browser.
Developed using Flex and ASP.NET 2.0 using the Flex Data Visualization library.

Online Mapping: Visualizing Sales Data
It's one thing to read through tables of data or graphs in your annual sales report; and quite another to be able to see your best performing stores across the whole city or country at a glance. We are currently prototyping an online mapping mashup that can show location-based reports for one of Australia's largest retailers.
Currently under development in Flash and ASP.NET using the Google Maps API for Flash.

3D Animation: search-cube Visual Search Engine
search-cube searches the World Wide Web for websites, videos and images and displays previews of each result on a unique and compact three-dimensional cube interface. Developed in Flash CS3, Actionscript 3 using Sandy 3D Engine and Tweener open source libraries, and interfaced with the Google AJAX Search API.

B2B eCommerce: High Volume Order Management
We developed and installed a complete Amazon style B2C eCommerce and order management system for one of Australia's largest retailers including fulfilment, invoicing and shipping - now live and processing several million dollars of online business annually.
Developed in ASP.NET 2.0 with SQL 2005, XML interfaces to multiple third-party systems and payment gateways, automated label, invoice and report printing via PDF.

Web Media: Flash Music Player
Our client wanted a video player to rival that of YouTube, but with their own features. We built a multi-purpose Flash media player application that supported previews, voting, star rating, competitions and playlists that also integrated into their existing site.

We developed an online yacht race simulation that runs race for 10,000+ users in real time, including realistic weather patterns and yacht tracking, live chat with other users, triggered events in real time 24/7. Mobile Interfaces: Search UI API
At Symmetri we helped to bring a revolutionary new mobile search interface to the market by developing the Mobile Search Web Services API. The API is a standardized web service that allows developers to access search functionality over the World Wide Web using HTTP in four ways - plain XML, XML-RPC, SOAP and JSON.

Enabling Standards: ISO Assessment Tool
Symmetri was chosen to create the data repository and process assessment tools for the ISO to help auditing of ISO15504. This suite of server and client applications allows assessment teams to quickly and easily collect data about an organization's processes and automatically generate ratings and reports.
The Assessment Toolbox has been developed as a Rich Internet Application (RIA) using Adobe Flex. Now in beta-testing.
